Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP)

AVP is a registered charity which helps people who want to handle conflict well without resorting to or being the victim of violence. It runs workshops in which participants understand how to communicate with others better, learn new skills to use in difficult situations and understand why conflict happens.

They run workshops in the community and in prisons to help people to face up to conflict in their lives. To maximize accessibility, our course is offered in different formats:

  • A 16-hour, in-person intensive course delivered over a weekend;
  • A 16-hour course delivered in the evening (currently online only) over the course of six weeks;
  • A 16-hour, hybrid course (1 day face-to-face and 3 evenings online)
  • A self-paced, distance learning course which can be done online or via postal mail.
