Introduction to the Occupational Therapy (OT) service

We are a small team of Occupational Therapists (OTs) who visit children in their homes across Surrey. We help children/young people with long-term physical and/or learning disabilities.

Your child/young person may be eligible for an OT assessment if they:

  • are under 18
  • have a permanent and/or long-term (longer than 12 months) diagnosis or they are pending one
  • are not able to carry out daily activities like playing or interacting with their home. Their ability to do so is substantially affected.

We can help children/young people:

  • carry out everyday activities as safely and independently as possible at home
  • assess activities like self-care, getting around the house, using the bathroom, and more
  • support family members who care for your child/young person.

We focus on home support. There are other OTs who focus on school or wheelchair needs, who are separate from our service. Please see the contact page for their details.

For information on the OT role within the home adaptation process visit the who does what section of this site.
