Who does what at each step

Who's involved in funding the adaptation

Your District/Borough (D/B) Council Grant Officer will be the main point of contact at this stage.

Your D/B council Grants Officer will:

  • review the Occupational Therapist (OT) recommendations
  • decide if the recommended adaptations are reasonable and practicable, and consider if they are necessary and appropriate.
  • explain the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) process, limits, amounts available and criteria
  • make sure you are happy with the proposed adaptations
  • check home ownership and gain your consent for the work.

You should contact your local council with any questions in this stage.

For more information see Step 2 - family consent or Step 3 - funding.
