North Surrey Afasic

AFASIC - North Surrey is a parent led, local self-funding branch of the charity AFASIC. It is run by a committee of volunteers who are mostly parents of children with speech and language impairments.

The group run 3 fortnightly clubs in Ashtead for children and young people who struggle with language and making friends. They also run activity weeks during the summer holidays.

A free friendly and relaxed place where adults who want to improve their emotional wellbeing can support and encourage one another. This group is for those who struggle with mental health issues who would benefit from company and a safe environment. Whilst not offering any direct counselling or medical advice/support, they aim to provide a relaxed and enjoyable place to come and "just be". A chance to chat, have some cake, play a game, try a craft activity or just to sit and chill. Freedom to engage in conversation or not. Freedom to participate in activities or not.

Obie Projector - Ash Library

A brand-new Obie projector aimed at young children has been installed at Ash Library.

Obie is an interactive projector that brings active play to floors, tables, and walls. The projector has pre-installed games which are specifically designed to be engaging for children.

The projector has pre-installed games that will suit most children of all ages – and more importantly, it is designed to help encourage physical activity, social interaction, and even educate. And it is free!

Obie is available during library opening times except during Storytime and Rhymetime (Tuesday and Thursday, 10.30 to 11am)
