The Matrix Trust

The Matrix Trust is a Christian charity which aims to connect churches, projects and youth workers with young people in the Guildford area.

The team work with schools, as an integral part of the pastoral system, they provide professional Mental Health First Aid trained Youth Workers to walk alongside young people in their life’s journey. Some of this is preventative, but much is responding to the growing level of emotional well being and mental health needs amongst young people.

In the community they create safe spaces where young people can make and meet friends and access a wide range of opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, through workshops, work experience, activities, 1:1 school based sessions, and traineeships.

Meath School - Specialist School for children with severe and complex speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

I CAN's Meath School is a day and residential non-maintained primary special school for up to seventy-five pupils aged 4 to 11 years, where severe and complex speech, language, and communication needs, including Asperger's Syndrome, is the primary need.

Merrist Wood College (including The Woodlands Centre)

Merrist Wood is a multi-award winning college operated by Activate Learning specialising in the land-based industries including animal management, arboriculture and floristry, landscaping and sports studies.

The college offers a range of courses, for all stages of career development.

The college's Woodlands Centre is a newly purpose-built SEND centre with sensory and therapy rooms, classrooms, and gardens.

The college is also committed to widening participation and supporting learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including chronic fatigue syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders such as Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, mobility impairments, visual impairments, speech impairments, long term medical conditions, mental health difficulties and more.

Learners have access to individual support and specialist help where needed (one-to-one support, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists).

SEND courses at Merrist Wood college are for learners aged 16-25 year olds, and may require an EHCP.
