Surrey Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) - Targeted
Surrey provides a school-based speech and language therapy service. All schools have a link therapist to liaise and discuss the needs of the school and its pupils with the school SENCO on a regular basis. Some children may need targeted involvement from the speech and language therapy team to support the early identification of children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs. This may lead to further training, advice, and intervention.

It can provide grants to enable individuals to obtain or renew necessary accreditation and memberships of recognised professional bodies, to undertake specific work-related training, to purchase work equipment or meet other set-up costs for becoming self-employed, and to purchase suitable clothing and meet travel costs where this was a barrier to individuals accessing interviews, work placements and employment.

Surrey Virtual School
The Surrey Virtual School (SVS) leads the work to improve educational outcomes of three main groups of children – children looked after, previously looked after and those with a social worker. They are not a teaching institution but a way of bringing together the information about children and young people who are cared for by Surrey local authority as if they were in a single school. That way, their progress can be closely tracked and supported, and interventions can be targeted in a more strategic way.
