Surrey Fire and Rescue Open Days

Surrey Fire and Rescue teams are running open days across Surrey. It is a great opportunity to see the range of activities involved with being a modern day firefighter, to learn about the crews, see the fire engines, and learn about fire safety! They are offering a SEND specific hour prior to opening to the public.

Please see below the upcoming open days:

  • Walton Fire Station - Saturday 6th July. Starting from 11am to 3pm. Special educational needs session from 10am to 11am.
  • Epsom Fire Station - Saturday 13 July. Starting from 12pm to 3pm. Special educational needs session from 11am to 12pm.
  • Godalming Fire Station - Saturday 10th August. Starting from 11am - 4pm. Special educational needs session from 10am to 11am.
  • Godstone Fire Station - Saturday 24th August. Starting from 12pm to 4pm. Special educational needs session from 11am to 12am.
  • Woodhatch Place - Saturday 31 August. Starting from 11am to 4:30pm. Special educational needs session from 10am to 11am.
  • Leatherhead Fire Station - Sunday 8 September. Starting from 11am to 4pm. Special educational needs sessions from 10am to 11am.

Climbing Sessions (Redhill)

Running every Thursday throughout the summer holidays

The Light in Redhill is offering relaxed leisure sessions for people with autism or sensory sensitivity and their friends where you can experience a calm and quiet environment with dimmed lights and reduced sound. They will be running afternoon climbing sessions every Thursday throughout the school holidays.

Free National Trust & Hampton Court Passes for Surrey Carers

Thursday 22nd August and 26th September from 11am-3pm

Action for Carers Surrey is offering a limited number of free annual passes to selected National Trust properties. There are also free visits to Hampton Court Palace and Gardens.

The visit starts with a free coffee or tea and meeting other carers, followed by a relaxing wander around Hampton Court.

All-Inclusive Rhymetime at Cranleigh Library

Thursday 29th August and 26th September from 10:30 - 11am

Singing and signing for SEND families with a focus on Autism. Booking is required. The sessions are taking place on Thursday morning for children aged 0-5.

Playrangers - Pirbright Autumn Term Sessions

Dates available in September, October and November from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Playrangers is an exciting project which encourages children to play outdoors. Free sessions are held after school in six locations around Guildford. All children are welcome to join.

The Playrangers are qualified and experienced play workers. They run play sessions based on using the natural environment as well as child-led play.

Family Learning - Settling into Secondary School Workshop for ESOL Parents

Monday 9th September from 12:15pm - 2:15pm

On this FREE online (2-hour) workshop you will work with the tutor and other ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) parents and carers to improve your understanding of secondary education in England and to learn how you can support your child who has just started in secondary education. If you are a parent who is new to the UK or went to school in another country, you will develop your skills and knowledge in understanding the secondary school system and gain practical ideas to try with your children.
