Roald Dahl Day at Bourne Hall

Roald Dahl Story Day is celebrated every year on his birthday, and people all over the world come together to celebrate the magic he brought to, and continues to bring to children everywhere.

Museum Ghost Writers Event
Saturday 14th September from 10am - 4pm
Bourne Hall museum will be celebrating some of the many writers who have celebrated our local area. All have died, hence ghost writers. 4 re-enactors’ will be playing the writers’, Mrs Beaton, Robert Fabian, Samuel Pepys and Charles Dickens. So come and join us as our Museum comes to life. Entry is free.
To run alongside the Museums Ghost writers’ event, the team are holding a poetry competition for local children to write poems on what they like about the local area or a local place. Following age groups: 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16.
Poems should be emailed to David at dbrook@epsom-ewell.gov.uk or dropped of at Bourne Hall reception desk by the 14th September.

Join best-selling author, illustrator and environmentalist Yuval Zommer at Watts Gallery for a fun nature art workshop to celebrate The Big Book of Art. Using natural, recycled an found materials you’ll get to create your own nature art. This event is part of the Guildford Book Festival.

Playrangers - Bushy Hill Autumn Term Sessions
Dates available in September, October and November from 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Playrangers is an exciting project which encourages children to play outdoors. Free sessions are held after school in six locations around Guildford. All children are welcome to join.
The Playrangers are qualified and experienced play workers. They run play sessions based on using the natural environment as well as child-led play.

Family Learning - First Steps to Understanding My Neurodivergent Child (ADHD, Autism and other)
Monday 16th September from 7:15pm - 9:15pm
This course is a FREE three-week online parenting course, parent/carers will develop an understanding of neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism and the terms associated with neurodivergence and key features of different presentations. Parents will develop their language and skills for recording information and how to present this to professionals and become confident in approaching their child school for the right support. This course is for parents/carers who reside in Surrey with children and teenagers who want to understand more about the concept of masking and how they can support their child.

Family Learning - £5 Healthy Meals for the Family
Tuesday 17th September from 4pm - 5:30pm
This is a FREE two-week course for 1.5 hours a week where you will learn skills at making healthy meals for £5 or under. You will be making two dishes each week, so that you have a few recipes for the autumn. This course is for parents, carers and children aged five plus who live in surrey and want to cook together.
