Prior's Court School is an independent special school focusing on meeting the needs of children and young people from 5 to 25 with autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs. Mainly residential, it offers a Waking Day curriculum, onsite therapy, expertise in autism, adapted environment.

What we do:

  • An adapted curriculum with learning throughout the waking day to develop skills which are meaningful and functional. The focus is on building communication and social skills, independence, daily living skills, leisure and vocational skills
  • The therapy teams (Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy & Sensory Integration, Psychology, Animal Assisted Therapy, Music Therapy) and nursing team are all onsite to support students and staff 52 weeks of the year
  • Education and residential staff work closely together to ensure consistency for the young person. There is a strong focus on training to create a team of staff who are knowledgeable about autism, best practice and the needs of each individual young person
  • The specialist approach uses structured teaching and a highly structured, adapted environment; 50 acre site enables strong focus on exercise and leisure and vocational activities; skills learnt are then generalized offsite within the local community
