Surrey charities and organisations will be joining Action for Carers staff to answer questions – practical, financial, legal – about your caring role, and offer support, advice and information. Pick up their ‘carers rights’ postcard, free booklets, plus some little giveaways – and enjoy free tea/coffee & cake!

Girls Community Football Programme

Movement and Mindfulness Course

Running every Friday starting on Friday 20 September to Friday 13 December 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm

A free 12-week physical activity course for adults experiencing mental health problems. Suitable for those who would like to be more active but who find the idea of exercise daunting. Low impact sessions combining activities to help you strengthen, stretch, and relax followed by refreshments.

Running over the course of 12 weeks, excluding the 1st of November due to half term. This course is provided free of charge, thanks to funding from Voluntary Action South West Surrey.

The 10-week Nurturing Programme

Starting Monday 23 September to Monday 2 December 2024 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm

The nurturing programme helps deal with challenges so that you can have a calmer, happier life. This programme will look at a range of different topics.

There are ten 2-hour sessions with a tea and coffee break. You will need to attend all ten sessions as they fit together like a puzzle (over the course of 10 weeks)

Cost is £30 per person or £50 per couple.

Woking Family Centre - L-SPA Family Communication Officers Drop- in Sessions

Woking Family Centre are pleased to be working with the Learners
Single Point of Access (L-SPA) Family Communication Officers.

The Family Communication Officers (FCO’s) have a range of
knowledge and experience of additional needs and advocate the
importance of early intervention for young people and their
families to provide the ‘right support at the right time’.
The FCO’s can support families with:

  • Understanding the graduated response to SEND (Special
    Educational Needs and Disabilities).

  • What Ordinarily Available provision is and what this looks like
    in educational settings.

  • Understanding a ‘No to Assess’ Educational Health Care Needs
    Assessment decision.

  • Signposting to appropriate services for support, advice, and
    intervention.

  • How to collaborate effectively with educational settings

Stoke Park Railway - Open Day

Sunday 20, Thursday 31 of October and Sunday 8 of December 2024

Regular open days at Stoke Park Railway are popular with families. Train rides are available on both ground level and raised-track miniature railways.

There is no need to book, just turn up. Free entry to the park.

Entry to the park is free. Train tickets are £2 each or three for £5, available from the ticket office in the station building. Children under three are free.

Refreshments: hot & cold drinks, biscuits, cakes and ice cream are available from the clubhouse.

Sight Loss Soccer

Sight Loss Soccer is for anyone over the age of 16 with any level of sight loss and any ability (or none) of football. Free sessions, more about being active, fit and having fun. The team are aware that we are now heading into the winter months, and understand the risk of travelling in the dark, so if you need any help/information around travel contact the team via the email below.
