Shine Training - Online Parent Guides
Shine Training supports parents to make decisions, challenge appropriately and choose the best option for their family. Currently available are two free to access courses, covering home education and permanent exclusion from school. A Parents Guide to Elective Home Education sets out what is meant by full time education, how to remove a child from a school roll and contains a resource bank of planning tools and parent led EHE websites. A Parents Guide to Permanent Exclusions sets out reasons for a permanent exclusion, local authority duties and contains an overview of the permanent exclusion process. They also have a podcast for parents.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices service providing specialist support for children and families where their children have a life limiting condition – unlikely to live beyond their 18th birthday.
Support includes symptom management, end of life care in the hospice and community settings, respite stays at the hospice, emotional and social support, events, and activities.
Bespoke group therapy events. Monthly themed drop-in sessions.

Shout is a free, confidential, anonymous text support service. It is available for those experiencing a personal crisis, feeling unable to cope or need support. Text Shout to 85258. You will connect with a trained crisis volunteer who will listen without judgement, to help you move from crisis to calm by texting back and forth and only sharing what you feel comfortable with.
Shout can help with urgent issues such as suicidal thoughts, abuse, self-harm, bullying and relationship challenges. But if your life is in imminent danger, you should call 999.

Sibs
Sibs is a registered charity representing the needs of siblings of people with a disability, long term chronic illness, or life limiting condition.
They provide a phone and email service for adult siblings as well as an online forum for adult siblings, and a buddying service.
Also running workshops for siblings on understanding their brother or sister's disability and on coping strategies. Sibs also offers training and consultancy for professionals on supporting siblings.
